Ya know. I lead a pretty boring life.

Don't get me worng...this has it's good points.

No phone calls from bill collectors...

None of my relatives fighting in the next room..

Very little of my relatives begging for money... (That's because we finally convinced them that we are POOR.) (Thankfully we aren't as poor as they think we are)

No Drama.

For the most part the boys are well behaved...they rarely give us trouble in public...(they tend to be a BIT wild when no-one but ifamily is around...but hey.)

My job is nice and steady work...which I can take all the breaks I want and catch up later...setting your own schedule for work rocks.

For the first time since my father died we have money to handle emergency situations (See the above statement about moochiing relatives)

We've managed to stay in one place for more than a couple of years. (relatives again...both trouble making and lack of rent payments)

You want a simple pleasure that means a lot to me...
Being in a store and saying, "Hey...I'd llike that." Turning to my wife to see if we can afford it and getting back a "Why not."

[livejournal.com profile] starsongky  has worked miracles with our finances...mainly because we made it a rule early on to ALWAYS talk money before buying anything.  We don't just go out and buy things, we talk to each other first adn decide if we can do it or not.  That was a big problem for a while when my relatives were lving in the same household as us....my mother and brother have a bad habit of buying things with tommorrows money...always leads to trouble.

It sounds like you like your life. If you do, I'm not so sure it's boring!

That's my point boring does not automatically preclude happy. 8->

Boring? Not necessarily

Lack of misery isn't boredom..Instead, I would call it "peace of mind"..which lets you enjoy the things you might not otherwise be able to. Mooching relatives I have(suppose everyone does),but I long ago gave up being "financial resource center". Too many "loans" became "grants" instead.
I try to save up and buy things where ever possible, rather than buy them on credit. Not always possible, but it's something I try to do.
I also try to keep a slush fund for emergencies..Scott

Not sure about miracles, sweetie, just kept really good track of it over the years to make sure we've got enough to cover stuff when it comes due. And gradually learning to be less paranoid about money is cool too.
